How happy are our dogs? Do they enjoy the lives they live with us? Are we doing our best by them? I know I've often looked at the lives of the pampered pooches I know, and I've longed to trade places with them even for just one day. How awesome would that be?--(except for that whole outside bathroom routine). So are our daily lives in sync with what makes dogs happy? That's a question I've been mulling over since reading Ted Kerasote's book, "Merle's Door." Before I go further, let me make the distinction between pets and working dogs. An Incredible Week With Heroes

I just spent a most incredible week of shooting (photos) in the midst of those I would deem as heroes...K9 teams from domestic and foreign law enforcement, military including special forces, and private trainers. I'm including both dogs and humans when I use the term "heroes" and I don't throw that label around lightly. These are the men, women and dogs who go to war for us. They are the ones who keep our streets safe. They often thwart illegal activity behind the scenes while we go about our normal lives, completely unaware of their personal sacrifices in the efforts to protect our way of life. I'll be writing more in the following weeks about my time spent at the 2014 Seminar & ...

 I've been meaning to write this for over a month, but the craziness of life mixed with the reason for writing this post have prevented me from sitting down long enough to gather my thoughts. So here it is after midnight, and I've finally taken the opportunity to tell you a little story about my dog, Boomer. I recently returned from a week-long business trip to find our little Bichon having walking problems again.
